i know there are some here that are going through some tough times.
some of you do not believe in god.
some are not sure.. i was told recently by a friend to pray to god for help and he would comfort me.. my first impulse is to pray.
It is a lot easier to deal with the notion that there is no killer god spying on you and your church's designated 'sins' 24/7 from outer space than it is to deal with the notion that our parents have been scammed by Doomsday nutters and their delusions.
I always saw religion as a crutch, even as a teen. I never felt I needed that crutch. Realising that there was no god watching my waking moments was a weight lifted, not a burden.

Watchtower God was going to murder me bacause I hadn't joined his church. I needed strength to cope with that much more than I need strength to cope with the realisation that he was just the invention of some Yankee Doomsday nutter.

it was the national headquarters for the jehovah's witnesses for 30 years.. but the 7.5ha wattle downs property has now been sold to elim church and could soon house a new christian college.. jehovah's witness minister george gray says advances in technology mean the property is no longer needed for running the church's new zealand and south pacific activities which will now be administered from australia.. elim church bought the property for its growing south auckland congregation and volunteers helped transform the site in just a matter of days.. pastor boyd ratnaraja says the congregation moved in on a sunday straight after morning services at their much smaller weymouth rd premises.. "they have done a superb job of setting up," he says.. the church will hold services for its 450-strong congregation at its new home as well as running counselling sessions and operating an op shop and a weekly soup kitchen.. we want this to be a centre of hope.
It's not the first church premises they've sold to Satan's organisations in New Zealand.
I wonder if they bothered to tell the Elims that they have been led astray by Satan and that Jehovah is going to annihilate them and their children if they don't quickly dump Satan's doctrines and accept directions from Jehovah's Australian headquarters, or if they hid that 'Light' inder a bushel?
I feel sorry for John and Lorraine and the many in their generation that invested so much in the church for so many decades. Lorraine recently lost her brother. Resurrection was only supposed to be a backup prize for the faithful that died before Armageddon. Now, it is all they have to hope for.

i am doing some stealth reverse-witnessing, and i have succeeded in at least two people seeing ttatt, one being my friend and the other being my dad (although my dad has a longer route to take to exit the wts, and i have to slowly chip away at the illusion).... the illusion of jw's is very strong.
they give an illusion of being moral and decent people, and that may be true just because the majority of the people they attract are just being deceived, or i really like to believe that and hope for the best.. what i hate and leaves me emotionally drained are jw apologists.
what can help me not be so shaken by my reverse witnessing and JW apologetics?
Don't answer their questions.
They are the ones claiming to have all the answers, so require them to provide the proofs for their answers to your question.
Guilt is good. Make them feel guilty for not answering your question.
Never ask a question unless you know they don't have a sane answer for it.
Don't make statements unless you know that they know that your statement is backed up by literature that they profess to trust .... preferably literature that is available immediately, (on their own bookshelf is best).
Remember at all times that it is not you that requires an excuse to stop worshipping a god that is hiding in his privey, it is up to them to explain why they still carry on accepting instructions from a bunch of Brooklyn religious nutters when that god never told them anything miraculous that actually happened .... ever.

we aren't going to share the blessed news with family until the end of the first trimester later this year...if we can hold out and keep it a secret until then.

Behave like any normal human would. If some of your rellies want to behave like cult members, that is their choice and they have to find a way to sleep at night.
several times over the course of a year or so, jws from the kh i attended have been downright chatty during happenstance crossing of paths... .

i have no grudges against any of them, but it is confusing as all get out to have left the cult as an ardent supporter of my out, open, front page headlining transgender son, becoming vocally and decidely apostate knowing i was dead to them... now after at least a half decade out, to have them chummy-ing up to me in a check-out line.... frankly, i would rather they look the other way, you know, if none of them would ever genuinely want to know how my son is doing.
Maybe they got some of the points you were making. Just because they can't bring themselves to 'grow a pair' and out their doubts, doesn't mean they should shun you when there are no spies around.
While their non-cult personality is having a day out, let them enjoy it. They might even get to like it.

in summary, 2 young boys have been killed by a snake that escaped from a pet store in canada.
it made it's way up through the ventilation into the apartment they were staying in.
I just had a JW switch from being uncomfortable with Jehovah killing innocent babies to saying that it's ok. (non-cult personality vs cult personality)
It would be nice to think I have made an impression, but they have too much to lose to ever admit to themselves that my family has scammed them into joining a cult run by nut jobs.
